Cleanroom shoes are mainly used in industry, manufacturing and laboratories. Since special hygiene rules and regulations apply in cleanrooms, it is not permitted to enter them with normal street shoes, for example. Therefore, when entering a cleanroom, overshoes should always be put on or appropriate cleanroom shoes should be worn right from the start. By wearing appropriate protective clothing, the quality and functionality of manufactured products such as sensitive components can be maintained and kept at a constant level and without contamination.

When are overshoes used?

Overshoes are particularly useful for visitors and employees who are only in a cleanroom environment for a short time, but they also complement your protection concept in areas with requirements for PPE guidelines and regulations. They can be easily put on over ordinary street shoes, for example. The elastic rubber band of the overshoe prevents slipping off the worn shoe and is still flexible. Since sensitive components are frequently worked with in industry and manufacturing, you will also find ESD-compliant overshoe models for use in EPA protection zones in addition to the standard versions.

When are cleanroom shoes used?

A cleanroom shoe must meet various requirements before it can be used in the corresponding areas. Numerous cleanroom shoe models are characterized by low abrasion and good slip resistance as well as a high level of wear comfort - some designs are also waterproof and particularly breathable. Various materials, such as microfiber, which is used as the upper material of the cleanroom shoe, ensure that the shoe is both robust and comfortable to wear. This is ideally suited for dry environments. The advantage of using microfiber is that it is easy to clean and at the same time has a very low particle emission. To ensure the protection of their employees and products, numerous cleanroom shoes are subject to DIN EN 61340 and meet the requirements of safety levels OB and S1 according to the classification for safety shoes.
